Our educators include K-12 classroom teachers and college professors, so families can find help with early reading and math, MCAS, SAT, AP and honors courses, and undergraduate coursework such as college chemistry. Browse the tutor directory and filter by subject, or open any tutor's profile to see the grade levels they teach.

Browse the tutors on the main page and click "Request This Tutor" on the profile that fits your student. A short form collects your contact information, the subject needed, and your preferred library and time. HumanTutor reviews the request and coordinates the first session with your chosen tutor.

After your request is confirmed, the first session takes place at a nearby public library. You pay the first-session fee to HumanTutor before the session. After that, all further sessions are arranged and paid directly between you and the tutor. HumanTutor has no involvement in subsequent sessions.

Every tutor on HumanTutor is a verified Massachusetts educator: elementary, middle, and high school teachers, and college and university professors. Employment is confirmed via school or college email address before any tutor is listed. These are not freelancers, student tutors, or tutoring company employees. They are education professionals who tutor independently.

All first sessions take place at a public library convenient to both the tutor and the student. This is a non-negotiable platform standard for student safety and accessibility. Subsequent sessions are arranged between the tutor and family directly, at any mutually agreed location.

The first session fee is paid to HumanTutor as a one-time referral fee. It equals one hour at your tutor's posted rate. Every session after the first is paid directly from the family to the tutor. HumanTutor takes nothing from subsequent sessions. Tutors set their own hourly rates.

No. Students under 18 must be represented by a parent or legal guardian for all inquiries and coordination. The parent or guardian is the point of contact for everything. College students and students 18 or older may represent themselves.

A dispute may be submitted to HumanTutor within 24 hours of the scheduled session. Each dispute is reviewed manually. If upheld, the first session fee is refunded in full.

Visit the Join as a Tutor page. The application takes about 5 minutes. After submission, verify your school email by replying from it to luke@humantutor.help and attach a profile photo. There are no listing fees and no commissions taken from ongoing sessions.

Each tutor sets their own hourly rate, mostly between $45 and $75 per hour, with a small number of specialists priced higher, depending on subject and experience, shown on their profile. The only fee paid to HumanTutor is a one-time placement fee for the first session, equal to the tutor's normal hourly rate. There is no subscription and no per-session cut after that.
