About HumanTutor
HumanTutor connects Massachusetts families with verified, active classroom teachers for one-on-one tutoring at public libraries. No platform fees. No subscriptions. Just the teachers who already know how to teach.
Search "tutor near me" and you'll get pages of freelancers, gig workers, college students, and offshore chat services, all mediated by platforms that take 30-50% of every session. Families pay premium prices for uncertain expertise. Teachers who could help earn little of what changes hands.
HumanTutor takes a different shape. Every tutor on this site is a currently active Massachusetts classroom teacher, verified by their school email before their profile goes live. The platform coordinates the first session and collects a one-time referral fee. Everything after that is arranged and paid directly between the family and the teacher.
Not a freelancer. Not a gig worker. A classroom professional who does this for a living.
Every tutor is confirmed via school email before listing. No self-certification, no unverified claims.
After the first session, tutors keep 100% of what they earn. HumanTutor never touches those payments.
First sessions meet in public libraries. Safe, neutral, free spaces designed for exactly this kind of work.
After the first session, coordination is between family and teacher. No app to check, no intermediary to route around.
Filter by town, subject, or search by name. Every profile shows subjects, availability, rate, and school.
Choose a time and library. HumanTutor coordinates the first session and collects the referral fee.
After the first session, work directly with your tutor. No platform in the middle, no ongoing fees.
HumanTutor was started in 2026 by Luke White, an 11-year Massachusetts classroom math teacher currently at Berlin-Boylston Regional School District. He built HumanTutor as a Massachusetts tutoring marketplace to modernize and simplify the fragmented, outdated tutoring economy in the state. By targeting the local scene, HumanTutor is able to beat national competition who charge more and offer less.
The design is deliberately simple: help families find a verified, qualified local teacher and get out of the way.
